There are over 130 million orphans around the world. There are an estimated 53.1 million orphans in Africa alone. Lesotho, Africa is one of the pooriest countries in the world and has the 3rd highest rating of HIV/AIDS in the world. The country is completely surrounded by South Africa and received it's independence in 1966. 30% of the children in Lesotho are orphans and their life expectancy is less than 40 years old. About 40% of the population live below the international poverty line of US $1.25 a day.
